Director of Public Relations

The Energy Impact Center (EIC) seeks a Director of Public Relations to design and implement communication strategies that cultivate relationships with media.  He/She will work closely with our content team to engage target audiences and boost our brand awareness. Your creative ideas will drive PR initiatives that will promote and maintain a positive image of our company while ensuring a strong online and offline brand presence.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this position will play an integral role in promoting EIC’s efforts.

 

Full-Time | Washington, D.C. Office or New York, NY

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop press releases, pitches, Q&As, and messaging to support the launch of new research & clean energy solutions.

  • Identify and manage award and speaking engagement submissions for industry associations, events, and more. 

  • Identify and build relationships with key editors and influencers in the press, social media and industry communities (New York Times, Forbes, Wall Street Journal etc). 

  • Execute social media strategy and actively manage Exec presence and communications through LinkedIn and Twitter. 

  • Coordinate interviews and press releases along with creating talking points and presentations to support various events, campaigns, and meetings.

  • Develop a plan to secure and maximize a brand presence in emerging markets (press mentions, content, award submissions, etc.). 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field

  • 6+ years as Public Relations (PR) Director, PR Manager, or similar role

  • Strong industry/trade press relationships with a proven record of story placement are a plus. 

  • Experience with global PR markets including Middle East & Africa is a plus 

  • Creative strategist with strong written communication skills & the ability to develop concise and compelling press messages. 

  • Critical thinker that is analytical, highly communicative and able to deal with ambiguity and a fast-paced changing environment.
