Manufacturing (QA/QC) Engineer

The Energy Impact Center is seeking a Manufacturing (QA/QC) Engineer with an interest in advanced energy technology to work on the latest advancements in nuclear power plant design. The Manufacturing (QA/QC) Engineer will be responsible for preparing and optimizing component design for manufacturing. You will work with our mechanical design team and digital manufacturing to create current and next-generation products.

The Job

  • Design for manufacturing of heavy industrial assemblies including:

    • Weldments, bolted assemblies, piping, electrical, equipment, skids, etc.

  • CAD & drawing development and review

  • Review and approve quality requirements for manufacturing planning, supplier purchase orders, and engineering specifications to ensure contract compliance, including:

    • Jigs & fixtures, order of operation, lean manufacturing, etc.

  • Oversee development of manufacturing drawings and approval of manufacturer’s shop drawings

  • GD&T

  • Tolerance stack-up analysis

  • QA/QC of the manufacturing process

    • Up to 50% of time may be spent in manufacturer’s facility and therefore requires interstate travel

  • Develop, document, and audit practices, program quality, and metrics reporting system

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes including:

  • Welding and fabrication, machining, bending, assembly, etc.

  • Experience with GD&T including ASME Y14.5-2009

  • Hands-on manufacturing experience with a manufacturing trade

  • Comfortability with personnel and environment of office and industrial shop settings is imperative

  • Familiarity with 3D CAD and 2D drawing production from 3D CAD

  • SolidWorks experience preferred

  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to self-direct work, studies, and analysis such to develop design criteria

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Able to effectively communicate results and analytical findings verbally and in writing.


  • 8+ years combined experience as a Manufacturing (QA/QC) Engineer and hands-on manufacturing experience with at least 4 years as a manufacturing engineer.

  • Engineering degree required (Mechanical or Manufacturing Preferred)

  • US Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident Status
