Head of Legal Affairs

The Energy Impact Center (EIC) seeks a Head of Legal Affairs as in-house counsel to develop and execute strategy across IP and Licensing needs. The ideal candidate will be able to work internally across technical and business disciplines as well as externally to understand legal requirements. He/She will be adept at crafting extensive documentation that is both easy to understand and thoroughly comprehensive.

 

Reporting to the Managing Director, and working collaboratively and creatively with the Business and Engineering team, this leadership position will play an integral role in driving our mission of a clean energy transition.

 

Full-Time |  Washington, DC office (requirement for international travel, as well as regular trips to our Atlanta office)

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Understand organizations goals as it relates to business and engineering while working closely with existing legal partners  

  • Coordinate development of regulatory policy positions across lines of business, and engineering, and in coordination with other partners.

  • Set strategy and guidance on regulatory policy issues 

  • Deliver a global view of the regulatory and policy landscape.

  • Produce or oversee the development of documents such as:

    • Nuclear Licensing Topical Reports

    • Auxiliary Permitting Documents

    • Grants Proposals

    • Patent Applications

  • Create and sustain lasting relationships with key stakeholders

  • Build project timelines and collaborate with the cross-functional teams on meeting the execution timing on key project activities 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant legal and technical, experience

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • J.D. Required 

  • Excellent drafting, communication, project management skills

  • Critical thinker, ability to deliver in a demanding and entrepreneurial environment in a timely manner
