Lead Mechanical / Process

Job Description

The Energy Impact Center is seeking a Lead Mechanical Process Engineer with an interest in advanced decarbonization technology to work on the latest in nuclear power plant design. You will work with our mechanical design team utilizing forward thinking, positive attitude, and digital manufacturing to create current and next generation of thermal power plants.


This position is located in our Atlanta, GA (Cumberland Area) office. 


  • Heat and Mass balance calculations for a simple steam cycle

  • Selection of power plant equipment: 

    • pumps, valves, seals, pressure vessels, pipes, fans, heat exchangers, condensers, turbines, motors, generators...

  • Vendor quotes in the turbo-machinery, heavy equipment, metalworking industries

  • Perform process calculations for all relevant departments (sales, tendering, project execution and R&D. These calculations include:

    • Pressure drop, Flow, Dimensioning of ducts, fan/filter sizing, heat exchanger (temperature calculation, energy balance)

  • Preparation of TRA (Technical Risk Assessment)

  • Responsible for maintenance and development of calculation tools and some other document templates

  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned


  • Technical competency in Environmental Control Systems Technology is an advantage.

  • Eight (8) or more years of engineering experience in power plant, oil&gas or process plant design experience.

  • Working knowledge of some of the following areas: piping design, valve sizing, rotating equipment, thermo/heat transfer, heat exchanger, water treatment systems, cooling systems, materials handling systems.

  • Knowledge of relevant measurement- and analyzing methods incl. international standards and instrumental methods and equipment.

  • Software Skills: 

    • ANSYS, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Simulation, Patran (or similar)


  • 5-15 years of experience as a mechanical/process engineer

  • Bachelors Degree Required
