Lead Insturmentation & Controls Engineer

The Energy Impact Center (EIC) seeks a Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer with an interest in advanced energy technology to work on the latest advancements in nuclear power plant design. You will support process control design, P&IDs, instrumentation drawings, control loop sheets, instrumentation and control equipment specification development, and instrumentation location drawings. 

The Lead I&C Engineer will work collaboratively and creatively with the Vice President of Engineering, and play an integral role in the development of a comprehensive power plant control system.

Full Time | Atlanta, GA office

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ownership of instrumentation and control equipment specification and selection

  • Development on drawings and diagrams related to instrumentation and control

  • Liaise with integrator implementing control plan and programming DCS/PLC

  • Lead developer of process control design


  • 5-15 years of post university mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering experience in heavy industry instrumentation and controls required. 

  • Decision making experience in broad aspects of instrumentation and control systems

  • Onsite commissioning support experience

  • MATLAB, python or other programming experience preferred

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills.

  • Able to effectively communicate results and analytical findings verbally and in writing.​

  • Steam power plant experience preferred

  • PE license preferred

  • Graduate degree (MS/Ph.D.) preferred

  • US citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident Status
