Documentation Engineer

The Energy Impact Center (EIC) seeks an experienced engineering document control professional to lead the development and implementation of an engineering document control system and to become its primary manager. 

​

​Based in Atlanta, GA, the Documentation Engineer will work collaboratively and creatively with the Vice President of Engineering, and play an integral role in the development of a comprehensive power plant control system.

​

The Job​​

  • Improvement of an overall document management system strategy, both for controlled and uncontrolled engineering documents

  • Selection, implementation, and management of document storage solution(s)

  • Selection, implementation, and management of a document management software solution

  • Development, implementation, and management of standard document templates and formatting for controlled engineering documents

  • Manage document control for engineering design documents including Design Criteria, Component Specifications, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Equipment Lists, 3D CAD Models and Drawings (SolidWorks and Revit), Bills of Materials (BOMs), and vendor-supplied documentation such as pump performance curves and general arrangement drawings

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and management of an engineering change control process

  • Serve as gatekeeper and coordinator of engineering change, receiving Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), processing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and distributing Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs)

  • Assist in the future adoption of an ERP business management system, and manage engineering data in that system

  • Work with the entire Engineering team to ensure that our documentation practices are useful, efficient, and accurate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities​

  • Knowledge of engineering design and development processes

  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Configuration Management, Document Management Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and/or Material Resource Planning (MRP)

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in document control for a manufacturer of complex products in serial production with multidisciplinary engineering input in design and development

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills

  • Must be a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident
